Food Trucks & Florida Folk Festival!!!

We are super excited to be back in town and playing at Food Truck Thursday tonight on beautiful Lake Ella.  Come on out, bring a chair or a blanket, have dinner while listening to live music.  We are especially excited to have Kayla Williams back in town and playing with us.

And if you’re heading over to the 63rd Annual Florida Folk Festival in White Springs this weekend, there will be literally hundreds of great artists to hear.  Here’s a few Ping Records artists that will be performing:

The Road – Tennessee and North Carolina

We first stopped in Knoxville, TN for a show at WDVX Blue Plate Special, which you can hear that show’s recording in their archives for another two weeks by clicking here and selecting the date Thursday May 12, 2016. We finished that night off at Barley’s Taproom in Knoxville.

The next night we had an awesome time at the Brookes’ house. They opened up their doors, invited some of their closest friends, and allowed us to put on a house concert for them all! We will have dreams of the fruit dip for years and years to come!

The last night of our tour, we went out with a bang playing music with our friends Chinquapin Duo and The Clydes! The show was held in The Grey Eagle and it’s no wonder why it was one of the Ten Must-See Southern Music Venues on Garden & Gun’s list. They said it best when they said that “the Grey Eagle rises above the rest for its gorgeous-sounding room…” (M. Hendrickson, 2016). We were more than pleased with the sound and the staff were top-notch professionals. I’d like to also add that this being our very first time playing in Asheville, the crowd was amazing and so very kind to us! We will definitely be coming back!

Catch us out at Florida Folk Festival 2016

Songs at Sunset: show at the 22nd floor of the Florida State Capitol

As a way to give back to our family, friends, and fans in our hometown, we created a show that is super special! Tallahassee Music Week was kind enough to sponsor our show and help us to get the necessary sponsors to make this show one that unfortunately only 200 people can witness.

BACK TO OUR ROOTS!

Some of you may not know that we have our musical roots at a little place here in town called The Warehouse.  It’s where we met, forged our musical kinship and played some of our very first shows (in other bands & as The New 76ers).
In fact, way back in 2007’ish we were asked last minute to do an opening set for the beloved Mayhaws and a Sarasota band called Radio-Free Carmela and the Transmitters.  A few years and a couple of folk festivals later we met Carmela all over again, but now as the chief for the amazing acoustic band, Passerine. Over the years we’ve shared campsites, breakfast & couches with these awesome folks & we like to think of them as our “Sister-band from down South”.

We are over the moon to have them join us at The Warehouse on Saturday, August 15.  Doors will open at 7:30 pm, music starts at 8:00 pm.  $10 gets in you in the door.

Put this one on your calendars folks, you won’t want to miss it!

Here’s a little Passerine teaser to whet your appetite.
